The call by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to Abians across the world to support the efforts of the State Government in different spheres of our economy received yet another boost this week as the State Government took delivery of a full container of medical supplies of different kinds from abroad.
This time, the supplies which came as a gift, came from Dr. Chima Nwaobilor, an Abia born medical doctor resident in the UK, who coordinated the collection and movement of these medical equipment to Nigeria.
Personal Physician to the Governor, Dr. Micheal Enyinnaya who is also in charge of coordinating these supplies and ensuring their distribution across hospitals in the state, described the gift as huge and will go a long way in boosting Medicare in the State.
Dr. Enyinnaya stated that this was the fifth time the State was receiving such supplies, free of charge, from Abians in the diaspora.
The supplies include High Resolution Ultra Sound Machines, Haemo Dialysis Machines, Equipment for resuscitation, Mobile Monitors, Ventilators, Different kinds of electric and manual beds, etc.
According to Dr. Enyinnaya, the cost of these items is in several tens and tens of millions.
Dr. Enyinnaya, on behalf of the Governor and the good people of Abia State, expresses profound gratitude to the donor and urges other good spirited Abians, especially those living abroad to emulate this good gesture and do the same for the good of our people.
These supplies, like the previous ones, will be distributed across the different strata of our medical system from the primary health care centers up to the tertiary levels.
