– DESCRIBES HIM AS A NATIONAL TREASURE, AN ICONIC STATESMAN OF GARGANTUAN PROPORTIONS, A LIVING ENCYCLOPEDIA OF GOOD GOVERNANCE AND A COMPENDIUM OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL DEMOCRACY.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has sent a heartwarming birthday message to Second Republic Vice President, Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme, GCON on the occasion of his 85th birthday.
According to the Governor, “Dr. Ekwueme’s life odyssey, his academic feats, his politics and his commitment to peace have all remained shining lights that have continued to illuminate our collective paths as we continue to work towards a more egalitarian and just nation. Dr. Ekwueme embodies and personifies the finest virtues of our nation and our democracy”.
The statement continues…
“Master of quiet and effective diplomacy and a living encyclopedia of good governance; Dr. Ekwueme, even at his old age, has continued to work towards a better nation and for a fairer deal for our people. He has remained an ever flowing fountain of knowledge and experience from where we all drink the waters of wisdom. Without any shadow of doubt, Dr. Ekwueme has become an enduring national treasure and a compendium of our constitutional democracy”.
“As current leaders of our nation”,…Ikpeazu continues, “we will continue to build on the foundations laid by this iconic statesman of gargantuan proportions and continue to tap from his rich and deep reservoir of knowledge”.
Ikpeazu adds further that “Dr. Ekwueme’s birthday provides us with yet another opportunity to reflect on our nation’s democratic journey and seek ways to make our country work better for all citizens in a just, equitable and fair manner. Most importantly, it is a time for thanksgiving to God for His enduring mercies to this great son of Africa”.
