The new Transition Chairmen of the 17 local government Areas of Abia State have been sworn-in with a charge to concentrate on the grading of rural roads as well as to deliver on the grassroots.
Speaking at the occasion, the Governor, Chief T. A. Orji further charged them to refrain from taking bank loans as well as employment of new staff.
He further advised them to make payment of salaries their priority as well as to open locked health centres in their domains and warned that any of them who associates with enemies of the State will be made politically irrelevant.
Chief Orji explained that his administration attaches a lot of importance to the grassroots as the hub of political activities and charged the Chairmen to carry those at the grassroots along.
According to him, their choice were made corporately and stated that the era of godfatherism is gone.
He reminded them that they did not make any election expenses and therefore have no reason not to deliver.
Responding on behalf of the others, the transition committee chairman of Umuahia North LGA Mr. Frank Ibe thanked the Governor for finding them fit to serve and promised to be loyal and implement the policies of government.
