NO RUGA ANYWHERE IN THE SOUTH EAST – SOUTH EAST GOVERNORS

Governors of the South East region of the Country have restated their earlier stand that no part of the region is available for the RUGA Program.

The Governors stated this in a Communique read on their behalf by the Chairman of the Forum of South East Governors and Ebonyi State Governor, Engr Dave Umahi, on the sidelines of their meeting at the Enugu State Government House on Sunday, 28th July 2019.

The Forum reaffirmed their belief that the South East has comparative advantages in agriculture and resolved to put funds together to fund our people who are interested in Rice, Cassava, Cow rearing, Piggery, Goat rearing, Poultry, Fishery and some other cash crops permitted by our soil and advised Igbos who are interested in these areas to contact their States for further engagement.

On the issue of security, the Governors reviewed the security situation in the zone and in response to the emerging challenges, decided to set up both a Committee and a Center for South East Integrated Security Monitoring/Intelligence Gathering to the centrally located in Enugu.

The Forum agreed to key into the Federal Government Community Policing Program and that Forest Guard would be established in each state and roads cleared up to 50 meters into the bush to have a clear view of the road ahead.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu was part of the meeting.
