Youths of the South East geo-political zone under the aegis of coalition of youths and pressure groups of Nigeria have endorsed the re-election of president Goodluck Jonathan and governor Theodore Orji for Abia central senatorial zone based on their outstanding leadership qualities and delivery of democracy dividends to the people.
The coalition group comprising various pressure groups said the endorsement of the two leaders became necessary as they have excelled tremendously in leadership as well as brought dividends of democracy to the people.
Speaking at the solidarity/ endorsement rally held at Ibeku High school Umuahia, President Goodluck Jonathan thanked the south East youths for the solidarity and endorsement rally organized for them.
The president represented by Mr. Jerry Okpara noted the importance of appointing tested and trusted leaders of proven integrity to run the affairs of the country. We don’t need people who are angry in government but rather people who have the fear of God, people who are peaceful to assist the president achieve the transformation agenda for Nigerians”. He said.
He said that the security challenges in the North are being curbed adding that the country is moving forward to greater heights.
According to him, governor Orji has a lot to offer as senator representing Abia central and urged him to bring g his wealth of experience to advance the country while calling on all to support him.
Earlier, governor Orji said the event was apt as president Jonathan has done a lot in the country with his transformation agenda which has touched all sectors of the nation’s economy despite challenges faced by his government, assuring that the PDP will emerge victorious in 2015 general elections.
He explained that that the South East and Abia have not been left out in the transformation agenda of the president as the president has not only commenced work on the 2nd Niger Bridge but also awarded contract for the construction of Enugu-Port Harcourt express road, upgraded the Akanu Ibiam airport, Enugu to an international standard as well as provided security and appointed Igbo sons and daughters into positions of power.
He assured the president that Abiand would give him their full support in the coming elections.
In his welcome address, the national coordinator of the coalition of Youths and pressure Groups of Nigeria. Mr. chuks ibegbu said the group resolved to endorse the re-election of president Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 and governor Orji based on their outstanding leadership qualities and encouraged them to continue piloting their affairs in government come 2015.
According to him, leadership and true governance is all about service and humility, pointing out that president Jonathan and governor Orji possess these rare qualities, having used their positions to address multifarious needs and aspirations of their people.
He lauded the president for his determined efforts to address the infrastructural challenges in the south East and his youth empowerment programme among others as well as governor TA Orji who he said was recently adjudged the best performing governor in the south East by the youth wing of Ohaneze Ndigbo for his achievements in the area of security, infrastructure and youth empowerment and pledged their unalloyed support for the two statesmen.
The event featured solidarity and goodwill messages by notable Abians.
