Abia Governor Chief Theodore Orji has signed a memorandum of understanding with Broadbased Communications LTD to provide statewide open access fibre optic network.
Signing on behalf of the state government the governor pledged to continue to provide conducive environment for business to thrive as well as to sustain the security arrangement in the state to attract investors.
He said that investors are now coming to the state because the environment is conducive for them them to operate and maintained that he was interested in the partnership since the government was not expected to make financial contributions.
The governor assured that the doors of the state are open to the company, adding that the state will provide the company with right of way, security and labour.
He said that technology is the in thing now,adding that he would not want Abia to lag behind in the technological age.
Speaking earlier,the chief marketing officer of the company, Mr. Chidi Obisi said his company is proposing a private public partnership (PPP) where the state will provide the company with the right of way while the company will provide the funding for the project.
He maintained that the company will offer 20% share holding to the state and iby their operation will generate increamental revenue to the state to drive investment.
He also said that about 10,000 youths will be employed by the company in the long run and solicited the states partnership.
